Get Your Heavy Motorcycle License with ADor-Biker
According to Taiwanese law, in order to get a heavy motorcycle license (>250cc), you are required to:
- Register and attend class at an accredited driving school or institute before taking your driving test
- Possess a scooter license (regular motorcycle 50-250cc) for at least 1 year before registering for the class
- Be over 20 years of age
For foreigners who might not have yet mastered Chinese, this can be a confusing process with the government requirements and language barrier. We have partnered with an official Taiwanese driving institute, so you will benefit from our structured program, English language assistance, and personal support in addition to their knowledgeable instructors and small English class.
Program Structure:
1) a. Program Overview: 1.5 hrs online with ADor-Biker team member
b. Medical Evalution: 30 min at the medical office in person with ADor-Biker team member, including:
- filling out paperwork
- taking license photos
2) Attend 5-days of class for practice and coaching in English at the driving school
3) Take the official road test at the driving school where you’ve been practicing
4) Receive your heavy motorcycle license in 7 business days after you pass the test!
** UPDATE **: As of March 2022, heavy motorcycle licenses are now separated into 2 types of licenses, which are distinguished by the type of motorcycle you can ride. Our driving school only offers Type 1 licenses

Official Driving Test: Register at 07:30 |
Q: What about the test?
A: You will need to arrive at the driving school for registration no later than 07:30 am on Wednesday and you will be finished by noon at the latest. If you want to practice before the test, you can arrive at 06:30 am.
Q: Do I need my own motorcycle & helmet?
A: No, both will be provided for you! While it is not necessary, we do recommend that you bring your own helmet which includes a visor (but they do have shared ones you can use at the school).
Q: When will I receive my license?
A: Your license will arrive at our office 7 business days after you pass the driving test. We’ll notify you to come pick it up or we can mail it to you, which will take a little longer depending on the mail service.
Q: How many spots are in each class?
A: Each class is capped at 5 students to ensure everyone has time to practice, receive personalized attention from the coach, and be ready for the test.
Q: I want to get a license eventually, but I don’t have a regular scooter license yet. Can I still apply?
A: A requirement of the heavy scooter license is to have a regular scooter license IN TAIWAN for at least a year before you can register for class. If you are planning for the future, take a look at our scooter license program and see if it is right for you. If you are still unsure which class is right for you, message our team on Facebook. We’d love to help and provide more personalized information!
Q: Is there a government subsidy for this program like there is the scooter license program?
A: Unfortunately, there is no government subsidy provided when your receive this license.
Q: What happens if I don’t pass the test?
A: If you do not pass the driving test, you only need to wait 7 days before you can re-try. There is a $500NTD registration fee to re-schedule the test at the driving school for the following week (or any week after that works for your schedule).
Q: You seem like a great company! Is there a way I can get more involved or learn more about what you are doing?
A: Our goal is to be a go-to resource for our foreign friends in Taiwan! We’d love to have you message us or even come see our office and meet our team. We can help with any questions you have about Taiwan, suggest fun experiences or show you what projects we’re currently working on to help our foreign community.
